Atul Sachdeva -New Delhi - Dated .17.4.2025 English Literary Society of SGTB Khalsa College makes waves across Campus”

The English Literary Society of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College has had an immensely successful and eventful academic year. Beginning with academic excursions and outdoors, the students visited the ruins at Mehrauli Archaeological Park (Mehrauli) and weaved multiple renditions as a “group of seekers”, singers and story-tellers, in what was aptly titled as Qafila-e-Irfan. The year continued to remain immensely eventful with a thought-provoking Panel-Discussion on the theme of invoking ‘Gods’ and ‘Goddesses’ in Indian Literature (20/11/2024). Senior faculty represented numerous University of Delhi colleges to project their discourses on literary representations, cults, symbols, and myth-making, which feeds into fructification of ideas and institutions.

This was followed by the immensely successful and the eagerly-anticipated “Curtain Calling” which explored “beyond-the-classroom” space to appreciate the dynamics of what happens when a “text’ converges with the performative space. Students of the society, along with Faculty Convenors, Dr. Guntasha K. Tulsi, and Dr. Akhilesh Kumar, visited the Shri Ram Centre of Performing Arts, for witnessing transmutation of “text” into the performative space (Ruswa’s Umrao Jan Ada).

This was followed by days, weeks, and months of deliberation on calibrating a Students’ Seminar space based on the “Mentorship Model”, where mentorship and peer-review, became the fulcrum to writing and improvisation of papers and their eventual presentation through innovative ideas, usage of novel techniques and discursive styles. Students across Universities such as Jamia Millia Islamia, Shiv Nadar University, Ambedkar University and Delhi University participated and presented enriching papers in this extremely well-curated event, put together by the immensely resourceful team of Dr. Guntasha K. Tulsi, Dr. Akhilesh Kumar and Mr. Ritwick Bhattacharjee and provided of immense administrative support by Principal, Prof. Gurmohinder Singh; Vice-Principal, Prof. Harbans Singh and the entire teaching and non-teaching staff of the college (April 16-17’ 25) . The calendar year ended with felicitation of Inkspire students (led by office bearing team comprising of Japjeet K. Riar, Vibhor Jain and Swakshi Dhembla), in addition to, celebration of proud moment for their mentors for so much that was achieved and so much which lies ahead.
