Candidates filed nomination for Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections

Dr. Sandeep Singh filed his nomination papers today, 14th May 2025, for the post of Treasurer in the forthcoming elections of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), scheduled to be held on 20th May 2025 at New Delhi.
The filing of the nomination was marked by the presence of several eminent members of the Bar, including the current Joint Secretary of the SCBA, who is also in the fray for the post of Treasurer. A seasoned lawyer with over two decades of distinguished practice before the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, Dr. Singh is widely recognized for his integrity, diligence, and unwavering commitment to the legal fraternity.
Throughout his career, Dr. Singh has been a principled and vocal advocate for lawyers’ rights. He has consistently raised his voice against arbitrary and questionable decisions taken by former office-bearers and has focused on addressing key concerns such as fair and transparent chamber allotment, improved medical and insurance facilities, and the resolution of long-pending parking issues within the Supreme Court premises.
In addition to these efforts, Dr. Singh has been at the forefront of proposing and advocating for several key reforms and welfare initiatives, including:
• Construction of new chambers and cubicles to address space constraints.
• Medical insurance policies of Rs. 5 lakhs, free of cost for all permanent SCBA members.
• Term insurance coverage for all permanent members.
• Permission to allow letter circulation before court hearings, improving procedural convenience.
• Abolition of rigid sequencing in final cause lists, allowing greater flexibility.
• Increase in defect counters, to ease document scrutiny and reduce delays.
• Free 5G internet facilities for all members across the SCBA premises.
• Monthly stipends for young and junior lawyers, to support them during the formative years of their practice.
• Pension schemes for senior and retired members, ensuring financial dignity and support in later years.
• Digital infrastructure upgrades, including a centralized case-tracking and legal research facility exclusive to SCBA members.
• Professional development programs, such as workshops, guest lectures, and mentorships with senior advocates.
• A dedicated grievance redressal cell for issues related to court infrastructure, registry delays, and member grievances.
• Enhanced library resources, with access to premier legal databases and journals.
• Establishment of a Welfare Fund to provide emergency financial and medical assistance to members and their families.
